One engineer guy: "Let the repairman 'accidentally drop' a large wrench between the moving parts of the mechanism!"

Mack (sarcastically): "Yeah sure, and he should also put up a sign that says: 'Caution, ongoing sabotage!'"

KAM

My dad was an engineer and he once told me there was a book on electrical fires and how they happen & how to prevent them. So an engineer striving to be a saboteur really just needs to let a "mistake" happen because it's probably in a safety manual somewhere labelled "Don't do this!" ;-)

There's a saying in software engineering that goes like "Don't attribute bugs to malice when they can also be explained by stupidity." I always use that turned around, one case of a BSD developer who got ordered by a 3-letter agency to weaken the security of some encryption got public after 10 years. And there are others. And of course no hacker and virus writer wants his "work" getting discovered too soon.

I guess both variants are true but when it comes to security, I rather go by the 2nd (turned-around) one.

That aside, I hope Mack can fully trust these guys...

For some reason the file itself isn't available but I'm going to hunt that down. My husband is a big WW2 buff and I think he'd find it fascinating. :)

He's a nervous dude but when he's able to calculate the risk, boy does he step out.

This reminds me of the scene in The Hunt for Red October when Ramius(the Soviet captain) calmly announces to his group of officers that he mailed a letter to High Command telling of their defection before they left port.
"[stunned silence]"
Ramius:"More tea, anyone?"
