Aha, I didn't even think about that trope when writing this scene, but yeah it's gotten a bit old. I like the idea of loving something more the more you learn about it.
I think you may be legitimately skilled at lettering. It looks like you might be composing your panels with lettering in mind as a part of the overall composition, which is a skill most people don't have. The dialogue balloons flow with the characters and panel layouts through the page very effectively.
Thanks so much! I took some time to read up on page composition before I started and when I thumbnailed I marked the line I thought the reader's eye would follow on each page. It was honestly a pretty new concept to me to think not just of the panel's composition but the whole page, but I do feel like I'm getting the hang of it! :)
